Three short profiles: a lost teen on a school trip, Japan’s best female racing driver, and a tour guide into Japan’s football otaku scene.
Directed and produced by James Copson, this series of short-form documentary profiles captures three distinct personal journeys, each set against a striking backdrop. In Tokyo, footballer and community leader Kei Chisaka redefines his relationship with the game through the city’s vibrant alternative football culture—a unique blend of sport, fashion, music, and Otaku (obsessive) subculture.
In a contrasting world of speed and ambition, rising motorsport star Juju Noda—Japan’s first female Super Formula driver—shares her story, reflecting on her path from her hometown in Okayama to the intense atmosphere of race day at Suzuka Circuit, blending archive material and cinematic visuals.
Meanwhile, in a quieter, more introspective portrait, we meet Toby, a reserved teen from Essex who steps out of his comfort zone on a Flooglebinder turtle conservation project in Greece—an experience that echoes Flooglebinder’s belief that the best classrooms don’t have four walls. Together, these films offer a dynamic exploration of passion, resilience, and personal growth.
