James Squared

James² is a collaboration built on a decade of trust and creative alignment between two filmmakers; James Stier and James Copson.

At its core, James² is about telling real stories with craft, care, and purpose. It brings together a shared belief in authentic documentary storytelling and a commitment to cinematic visuals that feel grounded and true to life.

James Stier is a Yorkshire based Director of Photography and documentary filmmaker with two feature-length directing credits and work spanning Netflix, BBC, and Sky. A former RAF Combat Photographer, he trained at the BBC, the National Film and Television School, The Guild of Television Camera Professionals and the Association of Camera Operators. He was mentored by an Oscar-winning cinematographer and his approach is rooted in immersive, character-led storytelling that balances beauty with honesty.

James Copson is a Manchester-based producer-director with a talent for crafting cinematic brand stories. He’s worked with global names like Nike, Porsche and Google, blending narrative clarity with visual flair. As the founder of Anattic, a boutique film agency known for its commercial work. James has delivered campaigns across the UK, Europe and Asia. He brings a sharp instinct for story, a meticulous eye for logistics and a creative strategy mindset that elevates every project from pitch to final frame.

Together, the James’s offer a well-balanced mix of international production experience, visual storytelling and a deep understanding of how to connect with audiences.

While each continues to lead their own independent work, James² was launched in 2025 as a joint platform to pursue creative opportunities that excite them with distinct brand partners—projects where they can bring meaningful impact, artistic integrity and tons of value.

By operating as two senior freelance creatives, James² avoids traditional agency overheads and bloat—freeing up more of the budget to land where it matters most, on screen. That means more time for research and story development, better tools, talented crew and production value your audience can see and feel.

This isn’t about just producing content. It’s about customer engagement with soul, purpose and lasting resonance.
